Haunted Town- Entry 4.6- Goddamn I’m Scared

As soon as I dropped the phone I heard a ringing in my ears and I couldn’t help but close my eyes. The pain I felt was relentless! I opened my eyes to see a ring of in the middle of the woods. The fire was almost as tall as I was and it glowed almost a crimson red. In the middle stood a little girl in colonial clothing reading a book. I couldn’t quite see what the book was, except it had shapes on the cover. She put the book down and looked at me, smiled then went back to reading.

I close my eyes and open them again to see that I’m back in the bar.

“Andrew!” John yelled. Everyone ran up to me.

“What happened?” Angela asked.

“Did you get ahold of anyone?” Daniel pressed.

“Well I did get a hold of someone on the line, but it wasn’t too clear. A female answered the line. I told her everything with the best of my ability… then-“

“Then what?” Taylor asked in a concerned tone as she touched my shoulder. She could tell I was spooked by something.

“Then I heard what sounded like a roar over the phone. And then after that I was taken to a different time. I was in this ring of fire and she was reading this book and she looked at me and smiled! The next thing I know I’m back here.”

“Take it easy Andrew. I think we’re all a bit stressed out from the fog and the crash. You did take a bump to the head so maybe you’re a bit confused.” John said, looking for a reasonable explanation for what I saw and felt.

“I’m not surprised that you saw something young man.” Vince got up from the aged barstool, grabbed his green coat, and headed towards the squeaky door.

“Little Hope definitely has a deep and dark history to it. Not many folk live here anymore because of it. I suggest you get the hell out of here while you still can.”

Everyone began to follow Vince as he walked outside into the street to his bike parked on the light post.

“Vince, wait!” John reached out to him. “Why are you still here?”

“There are no demons to claim me, I have nothing left to fight for. It’s just myself and my roots. I have nowhere else I’d rather be. I’m not afraid of an old ghost town. You are the ones that need to leave. Don’t get caught up in this place. This town has claimed too many people already.”

Vince got on his bike, but turned around to look at everyone.

“There’s a road up ahead. It goes on a trail that crosses the old school and bridge. Keep going on that road. You’re going to reach a diner that has a working phone. It was nice to meet you folks, but please don’t ever come back to this god forsaken place. Best of luck to you.” And just like that, Vince was gone.

“We need to get out of here right the fuck now!”

“Please calm down Taylor.” Daniel said.

“Why should I? If it wasn’t for our crazy fucking teacher we wouldn’t be here! We’re stuck in shithole central because of this stupid field trip.” Taylor pouted.

“That is way out of line! I had absolutely no idea that the bus was going to crash. I don’t want to be in this situation with any of you either, but here we are!” John raved on trying to assert himself against Taylor.

“Even though it’s John’s responsibility to keep us safe, being nasty towards him isn’t going to help.” Angela said.

“Don’t get me started. Maybe you should both get lost in the fog.” Taylor snapped.

“If anyone thinks they could do a better job, step right up!” John stepped outwards towards the circle.

The constant chatter of the group began to swarm my head, I just couldn’t take it anymore. I had to say something.

Haunted Town- Journal Entry 4- He Had The Drink…

“Sure! I could use a drink. It’s been a hell of a night.” John didn’t hesitate to grab the shot glass of whiskey. He swallowed the drink whole and slammed down the glass.

“I don’t think that was a good idea professor. You need to keep a clear head.”

“Do you want another drink?” Vince asked.

“Nah, one is good for now. Thank you kindly for your generosity! I deeply appreciate it.” John seemed to feel a sense of relief after having the drink.

FYI I switched to texting so no one can hear me.

“So I beg to ask the question, where is your phone?” I asked in an anxious tone. I couldn’t help myself. I started to feel this heaviness in the room, like as if we were being watched by someone, but more like something.

“Your phone doesn’t work, young man?”

“I have no service.”

“Ah! I have no idea how technology works. We do have a phone, but the line is a bit shaky. These old wires don’t work like how they used to.”

“Hey, we’re going to have a look around!” Angela’s voice echoed in the entire bar.

They looked among the loose leaf papers, newspapers, flyers, and photographs. I couldn’t quite overhear their conversations, but what I did know was that I was desperate to get to that phone. John and Vince continued to talk as I walked off towards the phone. I could vaguely overhear something about a ‘freak accident’, and ‘witch trials’, but I couldn’t care less.

I got to the phone which was an old, dusty, black dial up phone which seemed to be way past its expiration date. Some of the numbers were either broken off or faded on the dial on the phone and some of the paint was starting to chip away. I thought to myself, Man this place is old! I dialed 9-1-1 and at first the phone just rang and rang… and rang… until finally I heard some static. Finally a voice!

“9-1…. wh-a… is… yo-r em-rge-…cy?” A young female voice answered the phone.

“Yes hello my name is Andrew! We were in an accident up the road. We’re here in the Black Cat Bar up in Little Hope. We plan on going into town. Please send help to Little Hope! There are five of us!”

“Is an-y… hu-t o- mi-ing? I n-d a -… inf-ma-tion.”

“No one that we know of is hurt. It’s me, Andrew Foster, my professor John, my peers Taylor, Daniel, and Angela. The only one missing is our bus driver and I believe his name is Anthony.”

“W- wi… end -lp -…oon.”

“Oh thank god. How soon?” I felt a sense of dread as the static started to grow louder and louder. It began to give me a splitting headache.

“An-ony is -ed. For-et -im.” the voice started to grow almost demonic. I couldn’t understand it. Then a loud crashing sound was made next to me. A glass fell from a shelf and scared the shit out of me. Soon another voice hopped on the line.

“What is this?” The voice sounded like a deeper male’s voice, similar to mine, and yet still different. It sounded like it was from a different time or place, perhaps both.

“Who are you?”

“This is the Devil’s work here. I will not succumb to a witch’s spell. Your twisted words will fall on deaf ears.”

“I don’t understand.” A loud roar filled my ears before the line went dead. It caused me to drop the phone. It scared me to death. I didn’t know what to think.

Haunted Town- Journal Entry 4- No Drink

“Thanks, but I think I’ll pass on this one. I gotta keep a clear head.” John sighed in relief knowing that he made the best choice that he could.

“Suit yourself. Like I said before, drinking is all I have left.” Vince paused and took a drink. “After the tragic history this town has been through.”

“What do you mean?” I asked.

“What is it that you’re talking to? A cell phone?” Vince asked.

“I’m keeping track of everything on my phone just in case if anything happens to us or if we ever get in touch with someone. I have no service so I can’t call 911. This is all the phone is good for.”

“Ah I see, like a diary.”

“We’re going to have a look around!” Angela exclaimed to John and I.

“See what you can dig up.” Said Vince.

I could hear Angela, Daniel, and Taylor rustling through newspapers, loose leaf papers, old flyers, and pictures laying around the bar. I could overhear them talking about how interesting everything looked as they looked through the historical monument that is this old bar.

“Do you have a phone?” John asked calmly. I knew inside he was just as anxious to get out of here as everyone else.

“We have one, but the line isn’t very reliable. These wires are so old they just don’t work like how they used to.” Vince poured another drink.

“It’s worth a shot.” I said.

I walked off to try out the phone. John and the old man continued to talk as Taylor, Angela, and Daniel looked around. I found the phone. It was so old, like decades old, black and covered in dust. It was one of those phones with a top handle and buttons that spin. A couple of the numbers were almost faded away or missing, but I knew what was what. It didn’t matter to me, what mattered was going home safe and sound.

“Here goes nothing.” I spun the numbers to 9-1-1. I could hear a couple clicks and then a ring as I put the phone handle to my ear. It rung three more times before I heard a very raspy, static filled voice.

“9-1… wh-a … is yo-r emerge-y?” A mature male voice said over the phone.

“Yes! Hello, this is an emergency! We had a bus crash down the road and there are five people are here at Black Cat Bar in Little Hope.”

“I-… c..an se… ..lp but I- ne-… -ore info…-tion.”

“My name is Andrew, Andrew Foster. The others are Taylor, John, Angela, and Daniel. Our bus driver, I think his name is Anthony, is missing.”

“I-… an…. hu….rt?”

“No I don’t think so, it’s just our bus driver is missing. Please come to Little Hope. Please come to town! We need help!”

“A…. som…. wi….” the static got louder and I swear I could hear other garbled noises on the other end.

“Hello? Is anyone there? Hello???” Then the static got quiet and another voice chimed in.

“Who is this that beckons for my time?” It sounded like someone from another time or another place. Nowhere I can necessarily pinpoint.

“What? Who are you?”

“This is the work of the Devil. I will not give into its filthy tricks.” It was a deeper voice, yet had a ring similar to mine. “I withhold my name from you heathen.”

“What are you talking about?”

“You are cursed!” A massive roar of static and some unknown creature came through the phone. It was ear shattering! The noise scared me so much that I dropped the phone to the floor.

Dreams

Morbid Lady

She haunts my dreams.

Ever since I was little, a black widow incessantly terrorizes me. She wraps me in her wisps of silk and chains me to the walls of her hidden chambers until I wake up alone shaking in fear. The teeth make my hair stand on end. Lifeless eyes, those eyes terrify me.

She preys upon my vulnerability. She thrives on feeding my mind with tarnished thoughts and nightmares. She floods my being with the black waters of death every time I dream of her. If it’s not the water, it’s fire or tar. It’s pure torture. It feels too real to be just a dream. She stands there and laughs. Laughs with multiple voices coming out of her throat. How can she laugh like that?

When I wake up, it feels like I have been tortured for years. I tell myself I have to avoid that woman at all costs as much as possible.

Because of this, my guard is never let down. I don’t sleep, I don’t rest. I don’t leave my home. I work from home and go to college online now. I don’t visit people I know or love anymore, I just can’t. I don’t go outside or run errands unless I absolutely have to. There is no other way than to be on my guard and to protect myself in the only way I know how.

Every time I fall asleep, I see her. Sometimes I can’t defeat the urge to sleep.

She sips on my soul. She has for over 18 years now. My life force continues to fade away as my nightmares go on like this. No one believes me. I’ve tried to tell people, but I have been told it’s all in my brain or that I’m crazy. I’m not crazy dammit! Doctors either give me medications or send me to therapists. It’s a vicious, endless, nonstop cycle. It’s useless.

No one is safe from her, not even you dear. I’m telling you this now before it is too late.

She is the Devil of blackness. She’s a parasite from another dimension! I don’t know how or why she’s here, but she chose me for whatever reason.

There is no time left. She will end you, just like how she’s going to end me.

Please, Don’t Try This Profession

Please don’t try this…. ever.

You won’t come back in one piece, or ever.

How I know is because I am a witness.

I have witnessed ‘The Quiet Ritual’ by the CLA (Celebration of Life) done multiple times.

It is for people who are either terminally ill or for those no longer wish to be on this earth.

We celebrate life one more time and at the end of the celebration, the person who is ready to go, goes in their own way.

However, the one who holds the ceremony has to either be a higher authoritative figure in law or religion.

I’m a priest in a Catholic Church.

I’m a relatively young man with no life and all I have wanted to do is make people happy.

I have given so many elders a celebration on their last day of life on earth which has made them and their families happy.

I know this may sound great and all, but here’s the catch to this private service: I also did mention it is for those who no longer wish to be on this earth.

This could be for people who aren’t elderly or sick per say, but for people who are tapping out.

This is the only organization in the world that will allow something like this.

I was very reluctant to do this, but I signed a contract for 5 years and I couldn’t back out of it.

I was offered great pay and I couldn’t go anywhere else work wise.

After the first person I helped tapped out, that’s when I heard the voices.

They told me that every time I had to do a ritual, I had to take a small piece of myself off of my body.

I was overwhelmed with dreams, visions, shadows, and the b-b-bugs… the fucking bugs.

They crawled over me during my sleep.

Thousands of flies and maggots.

Each day, each ritual, each death, each patch of skin…

Patch of skin… patch of skin… patch of skin…

The Grove- It’s So Cold… pt 2

d912655dbf8b769940641ac276be370a

I felt as though I had no choice but to follow that light. As soon as it appeared, it zipped through the trees, which caused them to bend outwards like rubber, opening up a new path. I ran to the entrance of the path and stopped for a moment. I was absolutely shocked by what I saw, “there was absolutely no way in hell that could have happened”. But it did. I rubbed my eyes, then looked down the path again. I had chills running down my spine as I stared at the endless path engulfed by white fog. My hands were shaking, my heart was racing, and my legs felt like they were glued to the ground.

I took a deep breath and took slow and steady steps down the path. I felt as though I was being watched by hundreds of curious eyes, but there was no one there. I could hear twigs randomly snapping and the rustling of leaves all around me. I looked side to side, behind me, above me, but saw nothing. I swear to god that out of the corner of each eye, I could see something standing in the distance, but every time I looked around, there was nothing there. I took every ounce of concentration to ignore the overwhelming fear that crawled up and down my spine and continued down the misty path.

If you ignore the sounds of dread, you just might end up dead.

I immediately stopped dead in my tracks when I heard an eerie, disembodied voice whisper in my left ear. RUN! I bolted down the pathway as fast as humanly possible. Everything around me started to turn into what I can describe in my wildest imagination: hell in its purest form. My surroundings started to fade into darkness and the trees began to seep and drip dark red fluid onto the ground. As I ran I could hear heavy raindrops hitting against the damp leaves around me. A few raindrops turned into an absolute downpour. The skies opened up and flooded upon me. My feet began to lose friction below me and I slipped and fell right on my face. I tried to scramble upwards, but the mud quickly turned to murky flood water. I was being washed away by red fluid that dripped from the trees and heavy rainfall from the skies. My vision was blurred by the murky waters surrounding me. I could feel debris hitting me from all sides of me. I couldn’t tell if they were rocks, twigs, or what, all I know is that they hit me hard, very hard. Suddenly, I felt two bone like hands lift me up from the floodwaters and thrusted me downwards. I was still blinded and could not see where I was falling.

THUNK. I landed face first into a patch of neatly cut grass. It felt as though I was hit by a truck. I slowly used my arms and knees to push myself upwards and what I saw scared me to my core. There it was… my mother’s grave. Freshly cut white, gray, and black granite with a fresh pile of red roses on it. It was a tombstone in the shape of an angel with a black placard sitting in front of it. It looked like as if time had barely touched it.

I’m sorry

The tombstone burst into flames in front of my eyes. I could see my mom rising up from the statue. She was translucent, but her image was clear as day. She was healthy, happy, beautiful. She slowly walked up to me, grasped my hand, and helped me up.

“Mom?” She slightly nodded. I jumped into her arms as hard as I could and never let go. I cried into her chest and told her how much I loved her and missed her.

Don’t trust your brother. Even kin can turn on you.

“What do you mean?” I pulled away and saw that the thing that used to be my mom was an ash covered skeleton with its head tilted back and its mouth fully agape.

“MOM!” I dropped the skeleton and it disintegrated into ash that blew away in the wind. The trees and gravestones surrounding the area were ablazed.

I have to find the truth.

The Grove- It’s So Cold

tree-tops-7

“Joey!”

The dismal blackness that once took my vision completely melted away. Bright light and a thin canopy of lofty trees popped into my vision. I sat up, rubbed my eyes, and scanned my surroundings. I was sitting in the middle of a large patch of grass which was surrounded by rows of granite and marble gravestones. Some where rounded, plaque like, square, cross-like, or even a statue of some sort. Some of the gravestones seemed more worn down than others. I stood up from the damp, dew covered grass and saw that I was wearing clothes that I have never worn before. Black jeans, tennis shoes, and a flannel with a white tank underneath.

It hit me… I was IN The Grove. The place that haunted me for over a decade. I was standing in the middle of The Grove in broad daylight. I was petrified; I couldn’t move, I couldn’t breathe.

“Joey! Joey! Joey…”

“Wh-wh-wha what? hm?”

“Joooooooooooeeeeeeeyyyyyyy….”

“Who… who’s there?”

“You know who I am, my pretty.”

“That voice…” There’s absolutely no way that it was her. The person who belonged to that voice was dead. Long, long dead.

“Mom?”

“Follow my vooooiiiiccceeeee…. I will guide you home.”

“What do you want from me?” I paused for a moment. “Hello?”

I got no response. Fuck! I don’t know where to go. I don’t know this part of the cemetery at all. I looked around and saw what looked to be a light in the shape of a candlelight flickering in the distance. I had no cell phone, no keys, no map, nothing. I was completely alone out here and I had to get out. I decided to go after the flickering light. I had absolutely nothing to lose.

Those Ancient Hills (Pet Sematary Fanfic)- Intriguing Shrink’s Visit

470674388

Holy crap guys! Before I get into the post, I want to say thank you so so so much for all of the support you have been giving to me. Your comments really do mean a lot to me. I never expected to have close to 5,000 people following me. It’s absolutely insane!

Anyway, the doctor’s visit… yeah… it sure was interesting. I’m not sure if I’m feeling 100% better after last night, but I think I managed to get some answers on what the hell is going on with me.

So I walked into his office, which is within a larger medical building that is interconnected with one of the local hospitals, Cunningway Hospital to be exact. It had weird vibes to it, but I think part of it had to do with me being so nervous! I asked Jeff and Danielle to come in with me so they could give some insight to the doctor on what I have been acting like when I sleep. I had to show up about 30 minutes early so I could fill out some paperwork. The office itself was very nice. It had light mocha colored walls, red and dark brown furniture, a couple fish tanks on each side of the waiting room, a light brown hardwood floor with a large round rug over the top of it, and soft classic music playing in the background. The front desk was at the middle of the room with one brown haired, blue eyed girl sitting at the desk. She was quite friendly! I could see other receptionists and nurses walking around the room, printing stuff, going through papers, working on computers, you know, basic doctor office stuff.

“Hello Alex! How are you doing today?” A tall, svelt, older gentleman walked through the door and waved hello to me. He had salt and pepper hair, a green dress shirt, black shoes, and tie, deep blue eyes and lightly tanned skin.

“I’m doing okay I guess.”

“Hm. Just okay?” I nodded then looked down at my feet. “My name is Doctor Shirley, but you can call me Steve.” He smiled sweetly and stuck out his hand to shake it. He had a firm, but not too harsh of a handshake. “So I hear that you have been getting some pretty nasty nightmares, is that right?”

“Yes.” I felt so nervous, I wanted to throw up. My stomach was churning and my hands were cold and clammy. I looked down at my feet a lot. ‘Thank god they’re not covered in mud’ I thought to myself.

“There’s nothing for you to be nervous about Alex! I’m a pretty harmless guy. I have worked with teens and young adults for over 35 years. I promise that there is nothing to worry about. Now, who are these two who have joined you today? Are they your friends?”

“Yes they are. This is Danielle and Jeff.” Both of them stuck out their hands and shook the doctor’s hand. “They’re just here for moral support, I guess you can say.”

“Have they signed our medical consent forms yet?”

“Yes they have.”

“Good good! Anyway, I have a few basic questions that I need you to answer for me. These are primarily ‘yes’ and ‘no’ questions. I just need to gather a little bit more information about you before we can move forward. Is that okay?”

“Oh yeah that’s fine with me.” The nervousness started to fade just a teeny tiny bit. I found that I was starting to regain a sense of control.

“Alrighty then, let’s begin!” The doctor took out a clipboard and a black pen which had a white feather glued on it. I thought it was quite clever. Going through all of these questions just tired me out. Don’t ask me why, they just did.

“It definitely sounds like you had a bit of a troubling past, is that right?”

“Yeah… I have. During all the crap that happened back then, I really felt like as though there was a point in time where my family wanted nothing to do with me. Though during those hard times I had the support of my two best buds. I don’t know where I would be without them.”

“Have you had any counseling in the past Alex?”

“Yes of course.”

“Is it okay for me to refer you to a local MFT?”

“Yeah, sure. Any help that you can give would be great.”

“Alrighty then! I will be referring you to a Dr. Creed. He is one of my trusted colleagues and a friend of the family since I was little.” My stomach dropped to the floor as soon as that name came up. My hands began to sweat again and I could feel myself get shaky. Doctor Creed… Creed was one of the names that ghost Pascow mentioned… Goddammit Alex get yourself together! It’s just a coincidence.

“At the end of the day Alex, it is your health that matters the most. Don’t let your past get in the way of what you want to do in the future. You are a very young, healthy, and intelligent young man with a positive future ahead of you. I can promise you that you will get through this and I will do everything in my power to help you.”

“Thank you so much for your help today Dr- I mean Steve.”

“Now Alex, I would like to meet up with you soon just to make sure that everything is going okay. Would week after next be okay with you?”

“Yeah, that’s fine.”

“Your friends can come too if you want.”

“I think I’m going to be going alone this time, no offense guys.” I felt bad for saying no to Danielle and Jeff. We have all been in the same classes, if not at least in one of our classes together throughout our whole lives. We were together almost all the time and were there for one another no matter what was going on. Like for example, when Danielle’s dad was in the hospital due to a heart attack during high school, we dropped everything we were during and were there for Danielle until her dad got out of the hospital.

“Nah, you’re good man. We totally understand.” Jeff gave a thumbs up and Danielle nodded in agreement. I gave out a sigh of relief knowing that I didn’t hurt their feelings.

“In the meantime Alex I want you to continue to take your medications normally. The only thing I would suggest for now before we visit again is to start to use more holisitcal approaches to your nightmares. Things such as Essential Oil diffusers, playing white noise in the background, ASMR, and other forms of stress releiving tactics could really be of use. I also advise for you to back off of caffeine as much as you can.”

“Okay, sounds good.” Some of the things he brought up were things that I have never heard of or even tried. It was worth a shot!

“Alrighty then! I’ll have you take these papers up to the front desk and they will help you set up another appointment soon. I will see you in about two weeks.”

“Thank you! I’ll see you in a couple of weeks.”

I walked out the door, did my thing at the front desk, and all three of us headed out. As I walked out the front door of the doctor’s office, I took a deep breath, inhaling the cool autumn breeze, and exhaled slowly.

“How are you feeling Alex?” Jeff asked.

“Much better actually! I really like this doctor. Maybe even more than Dr. Daniels.”

“I’m not sure man, he seemed kinda off to me.” Danielle said. Both Jeff and I looked back at her in shock.

“What makes you say that Dani?” I was really taken aback by this. Danielle seldom talked about people like this. The only time she did was when something was really off. She’s really good at picking up on stuff like that.

“It’s just a feeling I guess. But, if he’s a good help to you Alex, then I have no right to say that.”

After the doctor’s visit, Jeff, Danielle, and I went out to a local cafe instead of Starbucks. It was called Vanilla Bean. It was a very sick cafe that was open from 8 am to 10 pm. It sat alongside the river and was about 15 minutes away from our house and around 20 minutes away from school. They served breakfast, lunch, and dinner at all times of the day. They were like an upscale version of Denny’s or Ihop. It was a hotspot for college students in the area for sure. We had coffee, brunch, and a whole lot of english rolls. They have the BEST rolls in the world.

The rest of the day went pretty well. No weird voices, no hallucinations, absolutely nothing! I took my medications normally and started doing what the doctor suggested for me to do. I got the diffuser and stuff from work after going to the Vanilla Bean. I set up my room with everything I needed and it was awesome. What was even better was that the nightmares stopped for a couple weeks. I was finally able to get some solid sleep and I didn’t feel so worn out during the day anymore. Every once in awhile I would see a fuzzy image of a wooden cross in a patch of crabgrass, but then the imagery would fade off into what I would consider to be a normal dream.

Except for last night. It was more than just a nightmare. This was a new reality for us all and there is no way out. The wooden cross, the rows of dead people, and even Pascow appeared once again, and I was fully awake.

I Have an Obsession With the Paranormal (Especially Post Mortem Pictures)- An Old Ghost Story Part IV

521715e957c32cd247c0bae341cebb8f--shadow-people-cut-outs “I think we should start heading back.” Joe said in a very cold tone, almost monotone.

“Already???” Kevin whined.

“It’s 10 minutes to 3 am.” His tone of voice chilled me to the bone.

“So?” Kevin stood up from the piles of paper and tilted his head.

“3 am is the witching hour. We’re not supposed to be out in the woods past 3 am, especially no later than 3:33 am.” Joe still sounded a hair away from being monotone and I really didn’t understand why. I felt this urge within my gut to figure it out. Why was he so serious about this? What is so significant about it being 3 am?

“Where in the world did you get that idea Joe?” I asked. I was really starting to feel off. I felt my stomach drop yet again… I completely forgot that I had this terrible feeling to begin with. Maybe leaving wasn’t such a bad idea.

“We don’t have much time! Let’s just get out of here! I’ll explain it to you later.” Joe’s cold tone quickly turned into a frantic tone. This was just too weird to explain.

“Oh come on man… We-” before Kevin finished his sentence, Joe stepped out the door and slammed it.

“What the hell man?” I grabbed as many papers as I could, stuffed them in my camera bag, then ran with Kevin to the door.

“Shit!” No matter how hard we pushed and yanked the knob, the door just would not budge. “Okay Jacob, step back from the door. I’m going to run at it and push it with all my might.”

“Uh okay… I’m ready” I stepped to the left of the door and watched my brother count down to three. My brother Kevin was a very big kid for his age. Not necessarily overweight, but just big in general. He was also very, very strong and played a lot of sports growing up. Baseball, Basketball, Hiking, Running, Cross Country, Tennis, Swimming, you name it. Hell, he currently plays college baseball at University of Iowa! Kevin is an absolute beast!

Anyway, I’m getting off topic. I had full faith that he would get this damn door open. With all his might he charged at the door and it burst open. The door swung to the right and Kevin tumbled down the stairs onto the uneven earth below. He fell face first into the earth with a loud thud. I quickly rushed to Kevin’s side.

“Hey!! Are you okay????”

“Ow, fuck… yeah I think so. I scraped my left knee up pretty badly, but I think it’s okay.” He got back up nonchalantly and brushed the dust off his shorts and Baseball T shirt. Thank god he’s okay… I let out a huge sigh of relief.

“What are you guys doing??? Goddammit man, how did you get all scraped up?” Both Kevin and I jumped and found Joe standing right behind us in disbelief.

“Now why the fuck did you block the door like that? That wasn’t funny man! We couldn’t get out.” Kevin got right up in Joe’s nearly expressionless zitty face. Joe took his glasses off for a moment, wiped them off, then put them back on his face. Then Joe suddenly began to laugh, and I don’t mean his usual awkward laugh he did every once in a while, but an almost maniacal laugh. This was very unlike Joe. He rarely pranked people and when he did, they were minor things like jumping out from behind people. He fell to the ground and started to roll on his back. “Oh my god!! I’m dying!!! I can’t believe you actually fell for that 3 am shit! That was too funny!”

“It’s not funny Joe! We both couldn’t get out! Why would you do that?” Suddenly Joe was able to collect himself and sat up from the bround.

“What are you talking about man? I was barely pressed up against it, then as I overheard one of you guys count to three, I jumped away from the door at the last minute.” All three of us looked back at the door and It was left wide open, slightly unhinged. “There is absolutely no way that I could’ve made it that hard for you two to get out.” Joe got up off the ground and looked back at the door.

“Oh my god, what the fuck is that smell??” Joe exclaimed. A putrid odor of rotting meat and sulfur overwhelmed our senses within an instant. We covered our mouths and started to gag. It stung my eyes and made my throat burn. All three of us started to look around to see where the smell was coming from.

A bone chilling whisper came up right behind us and said,”Get out!” All three of us turn around to see an eyeless girl in a tattered and torn old dress. She must have been at least 6-7 years old. Her skin was as nasty pale gray color, just like the the gray and brown dress she wore. Her dark brown hair was curled in a very old fashioned style. She had buttons for eyes which had blood seeping towards the bottom of them. Her mouth was wide open and her breath smelled like pure death. All three of us screamed at the top of our lungs and ran into the trees. What happened next was just an absolute nightmare…

Nameless Dreamer- Growing Pains

flower-of-life

The girl crossed her arms and let out a forced sigh. “You keep saying, ‘You’ll see’, but I don’t see anything! What you are saying makes no sense at all.”

“You’re not a very patient one are you?” The orb said in a very calm matter.

“No, it’s not that I’m impatient. It’s just that everything is so different, so big, so vivid, so colorful and so…”

“Scary.”

“Yeah…”

Suddenly, a luminescent seed of life appeared in front of the girl and the spirit orb. A relatively small moon and a unidentifiable planet appeared behind the colossal seed. The orb thrusted the girl with all its might at the colossal seed and she stuck to it like the merging of magnets. The girl tried to stand up, but she ended up falling backwards and stuck to the seed.

“What the? Get me off this thing!!!!”

“Just rotate the seed and you will be free of it’s magnetic force.”

“Now how do I do that spirit orb?” The girl said in a impatient tone.

“Have you ever played with a toy top before?”

“Yeah, I used to collect them when I was little. I still have a full drawer at home… if I ever get there that is.”

“Okay, listen very carefully on what you need to do. Now first I want you to close your eyes.” The orb proceeded to float in her direction.

“Okay. My eyes are closed.” The orb sat on top of the girl’s head as soon as she closed her eyes.

“Now this might make you feel a little bit dizzy, but the feeling will quickly dissipate. Now that you have your eyes closed, I want you to envision the shape that you are stuck to as of right now. The shape is called ‘The Seed of Life.'”

“Okay.” The girl started to envision the colossal glowing seed. “Now what do I need to do next?”

“Do you see that shape that you are looking at?”

“Yes, I can see it in my mind. Now what would you like me to do?”

“I want you to envision that shape, really really focus on it. With that, envision the seed of life as a top.”

“Uh okay… How do I do that?”

“Take that shape that you see, and form it into a top. Think of it if you were to draw a picture or make a sculpture out of it.”

“I think I understand what you mean… okay.”

“Do you see the top?”

“Yes I do see the top.”

“Spin the top.”

“What?”

“I said spin the top! Spin it as fast as you can.”

“How do I do that if I can’t even touch it???”

“Envision it spinning dear girl.” The massive seed of life began to rotate in a 360 degree manner as soon as the girl began to spin the top.

“Oh god! I’m dizzy. Holy crap! Oooooooouuuuughhhh…”

“It’s alright dear girl! Give it a moment.”

“Okay. I trust you spirit orb. Whooooaaaaaaahhhh!!!!!” The colossal seed rotated faster and faster as the top in the girl’s mind spun. It eventually spun at breakneck speed. Suddenly the girl was yanked off the spinning seed and a flash of bright golden light filled her vision for a moment.

“Here we go! Hang on tight!” The spirit orb stretched its wings almost as far as the eye could see. The wings, like the flash of light were so bright that they blinded the girl’s vision for a few moments. The duo gently float down onto a large boulder that sat several yards from a massive waterfall. The girl rubbed her eyes and opened them. She was in awe of the new world that appeared in front of her eyes.

“You did it.” The orb said. A jolt of unbearable pain shot through the girl’s spine up through her head and once again she was on the ground in agony. The excruciating jolt lasted for only a few seconds. As soon as the jolt of pain stopped, the girl stood up. She felt her shoulders again and found that the bumps that were once there were significantly bigger. They were 3-4 inches in length and they were much thicker than before. She looked at the spirit orb in disbelief, then outwards towards the horizon of the new world.
