I Have an Obsession with the Paranormal

(Continuation from previous post)

The following events that I’m about to describe might be frightening or unsettling to others. This is a warning for readers who scare easily: reader discretion is advised. I will put it out there that no one was seriously injured during this expedition. It has been many years since we went on that hike in the dead of night, searching for lonesome ghosts. There were some things that happened between Joe, Kevin, and myself. I do not personally have any grudges or anything like that with them. I do not condone what they have done… at least I am 99% sure that what happened was their doing. Anyway, back to the story.

Joe, Kevin, and I stood upon the entrance of an old hiking trail. The moment that the light of the flashlights illuminated the trail, a plethora of dancing dust particles appeared. Every step we took on that path felt like it lasted a century. The lights from the flashlights being rotated from side to side made shadows contort into unnatural forms. I swear to god that forest was unnaturally quiet that night. Not a single cricket, frog, or breeze could be heard. It was just so dead out there…. I swear that I could see figures and random pairs of glowing eyes appear out of the corners of my eyes every few moments. All of us were just as quiet as the forest for the first 20 minutes of our hike. Thankfully there wasn’t too much overgrowth that we had to weave and wobble through.

“How much further away is this haunted cemetery-church thing?” I whispered.

“Well according to the map, we are only about 5-10 minutes away from the church and cemetery.” Joe pulled out his map and pointed at a red dot which marked the spot of the dreaded place of interest. “So, we’re right here! Not too much farther boys! Are you excited??”

Kevin was absolutely ecstatic. I have never seen him this excited before about anything. Me however… I could feel my stomach drop to the ground and my whole body began to seize.

“Come on! Let’s go!” Kevin said as he ran ahead on the trail.

“Aw shit.” I muttered to myself.

“Hey hey! Kevin stop! Wait for us!”

Joe and I both ran after Kevin. He was getting so far ahead of us, we couldn’t keep up. The overgrowth was starting to get thicker and the trail was starting to get rougher as we ran.

Suddenly we stumbled through a mass of fallen trees and fell onto the ground. Joe and I both looked up and saw a decrepid gateway to a fence that looked ancient. The church and area surrounding the church was very small. The front of the church had a very small, worn down cemetery. Patches of weeds and crabgrass stuck out from dry earth with about 10 weathered down gravestones sticking out of the ground on both sides. The path leading to the door was made of gravel, dirt, and more weeds. Joe shined the light upwards towards the church steps and a small childlike figure made the heavy wood door swing open and shut within an instant.

“KEVIN! KEVIN GODDAMMIT! COME BACK!” Joe yelled at the top of his lungs. I felt a jolt of realization shoot through my spine. My already racing heart was starting to increase into mach 2 speed. I took the polaroid camera out of the bag, and started taking dozens of pictures. “What are you doing Jacob??? Come on!”

“I’m taking pictures of everything!” I exclaimed.

“Chill out on taking pictures for right now and lets go find Kevin before he get’s himself hurt.”

“Okay.” I immediately put the strap attached to the camera on my shoulder and followed Joe into the church. Like the cemetery, the church was just as small. The walls were made of gray stone and some weird plaster stuff that was peeling off the seams of the bricks. There was a bell tower on the top of the church that held a relatively small brass bell. Joe and I walked up the weathered, sand covered steps. Joe tried to pull on the rusty metal handle of the door, but it wouldn’t budge. It was like as if the door was glued in place.

“Dammit! It won’t open.” I tried to pull the handle with Joe as well. With that, the handle ripped out and broke into several pieces. “Shit shit shit shit shit!!! Kevin! Open the door! This isn’t funny!” I tried to bang on the door as hard as I could, yelling for my idiot brother to open it.

“I don’t get it Joe. My brother doesn’t normally do this.” He looked at me and shrugged.

Suddenly there was a loud whisper from a male’s voice saying, “What are you doing?”

Joe and I both jumped out of the seat of our pants and shrieked. There was nothing there… “Christ almighty…” he sighed.

We both turned back around and saw the door wide open with Kevin standing in the doorway, white as a ghost. The handle was intact on the door… the same handle that shattered in our hands.

“What the hell man? Kevin? Why did you run off like that?” I went up the stairs and looked at him straight in the eyes. He didn’t move, blink, or say anything. “Kevin?” Joe poked at him and he didn’t budge.

“BOO!” Joe and I both jumped and found ourselves inside the church with Kevin on the front steps, laughing hysterically. “I got you good!”

“What the fuck man? Why did you run off like that?” Joe looked at him in disbelief.

“What are you talking about man? I didn’t run off.” His heavy laughter started to settle.

“Dude, Kevin you yelled ‘let’s go’ after we looked at the map, then you ran off.” I said impatiently.

“I didn’t run off guys! I ducked behind a bush when you guys tripped over the trees that led to the front of the gate, then I snuck up behind you and scared you.”

Joe and I looked at each other then looked back and Kevin.

“You’re joking, right?” Joe said and crossed his arms.

“No? Why do you think I would run off like that? Our parents would beat us into lunch meat if we all went missing.”

All three of us were jolted by a large thump. We turned around, facing the front of the church and saw a large box hit the ground with papers flying all over the place. The box was sitting on top of a book case which was next to the back door.

We walked up to the box that fell on the ground, picked it up, and started to look through the contents of the box. As Joe and Kevin sifted through the papers, I walked around the church and started to take pictures again. The church had several holes in the walls in the front where stained glass would’ve been. The pews were completely caked in dust and the rug we were standing on was covered in holes. The crucixifion statue was a rusty gold color and that too was completely caked in dust.

“Hey Jacob! Come look at these!” Kevin said. “I found some really cool stuff!”

I walked over to the duo and Kevin handed me a large stack of old polaroid photos… or at least I thought they were polaroid. I started gazing at one picture after the other. There were pictures of weddings, family portraits, and other church events like Christmas, Baptisims, and Easter festivities. Each of them had a date written down on the right-hand corner of them. January 17th 1877, January 19th 1877, Februrary 16th 1877, March 1st 1877, and on and on.

“Damn these pictures are old!” I said. “You’re right Kevin. These are really really cool!”

That feeling began to change as I started to look through moreof the photos. There were even photos of funerals and wakes. Heartbroken families dressed in black staring down at a 6 foot hole which held the deceased. Pictures of the ones who once lived were prominant. Men, women, and an oddly high amount of children. Then I noticed something else. There were pictures of family portraits, but one person in every single picture seemed ‘off’. Some of the people who seemed to be ‘off’ were either lying down or proped up on a chair or standing like a manequin.

“Hey… what are these?” Joe walked over to me as Kevin dug through the piles of papers.

“Oh! I know what those are…. they’re um…” Joe began to scratch his chin and look upwards. “I don’t remember…”

I thought it was really odd of Joe to do, but at the time I really didn’t think much of it. I continued to look through the pictures and then helped go through more of the papers with Joe and Kevin.

I wish I could say that this is where the night ended… but it didn’t. The madness continued to reek havok upon us until dawn; but that’s a post for another day.

I Have an Obsession with the Paranormal

January 25th 2018

Time seemed to drag on as I watched the clock, dreading sunfall. We had dinner together, watched TV, and then eventually went to bed. It was the weekend, so we were all allowed to stay up until 10 pm max. My parents usually went to bed around 10-11 or so. Thankfully for us, both of our parents sleep like lifeless rocks.

Kevin and I shared a bedroom together and our sisters shared one together as well. Our parents slept across the hall from our room and more often than not, they would have the door cracked in case if anything were to go bump in the night. Every few moments or so I would stare at the clock that sat above our window. 9:47… 9:49… 9:50… the closer it got to 10, the closer I could feel my heart explode from nervousness.

“Are you ready for this?” Kevin looked at me from across the room, laying casually in his bed with a flashlight and book in his hands.

“Yeah… I guess.” I murmured. I started to feel sick to my stomach.

“Don’t worry Jacob, it will be fine! We’ll go out the backdoor once mom and dad are asleep, meet up with Joe, then go from there! Joe and I do this all the time.”

“Wait, what?” I sat up and stared at my brother in disbelief. “I thought you said that you heard of it! I didn’t realize that you had been there before.”

“Yeah! We have been to that church once or twice before during the day. Joe’s dad eventually caught us going into the woods by ourselves and told us that we weren’t allowed to go anywhere near that church. So that’s when Joe and I started going out into the woods at night. There were other cool places we went to like the pond and waterfall that sits beyond that treeline. We spent most of our nights there. It was our hangout place.”

“Have you ever been to the church at night?”

“Not yet! That’s where you come in!” He sat up out of bed, reached underneath his bed, and held out what was a very small and dusty old polaroid camera. He walked over to me and handed it over.

“Dad’s old camera?”

“Yes! Joe and I need you to take pictures of this place.”

“Why me?”

“Because you’re good at taking pictures!”

“Why haven’t you done this yourself?”

“Because I don’t know how the camera works! And joe doesn’t know how to use it either. Only you do.”

Unfortunately, he was speaking the truth. Despite the fact that dad showed Kevin how to use the camera. He got angry with it and threw it against the wall and since then, dad won’t allow him to touch it. That always made Kevin mad. I became a pro at it and I still have the camera to this day. My dad and I love taking pictures together whenever we would go with his group or on family vacations.

“You can take pictures and show them off at school! But you gotta make sure that you take enough pictures so all three of us can have pictures to take with us to school.”

“Okay.” I sighed heavily. “Are you sure that we should be doing this?”

“Jacob”, Kevin got up off his bed and sat next to me on mine. I sat and stared down at the red and blue Captain America rug that sat in the middle of our room. “It’s going to be fine! We’ll have flashlights, pocket knives, a few snacks, a first aid kit, and a few flares. If worse comes to worse, we will beat it. Okay?”

I sighed again and said,”Okay.”

“Look man! It’s 10:05! Let’s go!” Kevin pointed to the clock, grabbed his backpack, grabbed me by the arm. We shuffled down our staircase and through the backdoor.

I could see a small light that illuminated in the pitch blackness. After walking a few blocks, we met up with Joe. Joe was (and still is) a pretty nice guy, VERY smart too.

“Hey guys, you made it!”

“Yeah! we sure did!” Kevin exclaimed.

“Shhhhh…” Joe gestured us to get closer to the trees. “My dad is still awake and he’s a light sleeper.”

“Oh oops! Sorry.” Kevin said as he bit his lip.

“Anyway, I have everything we need. Here’s our map.” He pulled out a highly detailed map from the side pocket of his backpack. Joe had everything highlighted and labeled. Kevin held his flashlight over it so we could all see it. “So our destination is only about an hour away tops.”

My jaw dropped. “An hour???”, both Kevin and Joe shushed me. “Sorry.”

“Yeah, it’s only because we are going a slightly different route. This different route supposedly has an unlabeled ancient indian burial ground which is somewhere nearby the church. If we went the normal route, we wouldn’t be able to see the burial ground.”

“Hell yeah man! Let’s do this thing!” Kevin and Joe high fived.

“Alright little man, do you have the camera?” Joe asked.

“Yeah, I got it.” I held it up and then put the strap around my shoulder.

“Good good.” Joe gave me a high five and with that we were off…

I Have an Obsession with the Paranormal (Especially Post Mortem pictures)

maxresdefault

January 25th 2018

Hey everyone! Jacob here! I’m sorry that I had to cut the last post short, but I had to take care of some stuff. I go to community college and work part time at the library on campus every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. My parents always push to get my studies done before anything else, and I have adopted that same mindset as well. I also wanted to apologize for the slight vagueness in my first post. I wanted to talk more about how I got into this stuff on my end. So like I stated in my previous posts, my parents were a huge influence on why I love the paranormal so much.

I think what started it all was my first experience with the paranormal when I was about 7 years old. Back then, my family and I lived in a house that was slightly smaller than the one we lived in and it was HAUNTED af, I seriously mean it was haunted. However, I didn’t really start to experience anything until I got a bit older. Anyway, when I was 7 years old, I was playing with my older brother Kevin who was about 10 years old at the time. I had two older sisters, 12 and 14 who were inside the house at the time. Kevin and I were out in our playground that our parents made for us when we first moved here. We were both playing in our sandbox, it was a fairly large one at that.

“I’m going to make a city that will reach the sky! And a rollercoaster in the middle of it.” I remember saying that vividly out of everything else. I really wanted to be an architect when I was little.

“You’re going to need a lot more sand than that to make skyscrapers that big.” My brother said as he was doing his version of a reanactment of Godzilla. Clumps of light tan sand sat in front of him as he used his favorite toy airplane to destroy the smaller clumps. I remember that he always wanted to be a pilot. 15 years later, he made that dream come true, but that’s a story for another day. We were having a good day in the hot midsummer’s sun.

“You know what would be cool to do one of these days?” Kevin asked me with some form of malintent… I say malintent because I had a feeling it was going to be a prank or some sort of trick. We loved to play pranks on one another.

“What?” I said

“Go check out the creek by our house without grown-ups! I heard that there is a church in the middle of the woods and its haunted!” He said excitedly.

“But we tried to do it one time and we both got grounded for a week without TV or video games! The nextdoor neighors caught us, remember?”

“So? We’re fast enough to sneak past mom and dad and our neighbors. We would be even faster if we snuck out of our rooms when mom and dad are asleep.”

“I don’t like where this is going.” I remember feeling my stomach churning at the thought. I was still afraid of the dark and there was something about this situation that just wasn’t right. I couldn’t put my finger on it, but I know I felt something.

“Come on man! Maybe we can get Joe from next door from us to go with us.” Joe Randall was our best friend since childhood. At the time he was 13 years old, a cubscout, and would regularly go on hikes in the backwoods with his dad and younger sister. We had so many good memories with Joe. Hell, even after we moved we still chat all the time and get into shenanigans.

“Maybe…” I said grasping at my chin, pretending that I had a beard.

“I already talked to him about it! We were going to do it tonight at 10 o’clock! Please?”

“Why do you want me to come and not one of our sisters?”

“Bleh! I don’t want them to come with us. They’re not as brave as you and I. Anyway, Joe has a camera so we can take all kinds of pictures. We will be the coolest kids in school for doing this. No one has done this before because everyone is a scaredy cat. So, what do ya say? Shake on it?” He put his hand right in my face. I sighed and shaked his hand.

“Alright deal”. As soon as I shook his palm I felt my stomach drop and my head was immediately all mixed up. I couldn’t go back on a handshake, it’s a personal brother to brother kind of thing. I will say one thing for sure… what happened that night imprinted itself in my memories forever….

More coming soon…

I Have an Obsession With The Paranormal (Especially Post-Mortem Pictures)

c966615c022f09be274a652303718b53

First post: January 17th 2018

Hey everyone, my name is Jacob Norison. I am 19 years of age (almost 20) and I;m from Iowa. I am obsessed with everything and anything paranormal. I love paranormal pictures, documentaries, books, YouTube videos, TV shows, movies, and everything relating to it.

So, basically I have had this crazy obsession since I was maybe about 5 or 6 years of age. I got it from my parents who also love the paranormal. My mom is a History teacher at one of the local high schools. My dad does a little bit of everything. He’s part of an group of people who study paranormal as a living. They travel around the globe to uncover ancient relics from the past. Their mission is to prove that the paranormal really exists. Like my mom, he’s also a History teacher, but he works at a Iowa State University. Both of my parents are heroes to me. They love me dearly and support me in every way possible. They are more than my parents, they are my best friends too. Most people around my age probably wouldn’t be as attached to their parents the same way I am.

So, you might be wondering why all of this is relevant, right? Well, I decided to create my own website through WordPress and thought I would share stuff about myself and my interests to see if anyone has the same interests as me. I hope that maybe one day I can make my own professional paranormal research group. So yeah! There will be more posts and stuff coming up soon. I’m going to be traveling within the next 3 days with my Dad and his paranormal research group. It’s going to be a blast! I can’t quite say what I’m going to be doing right now, I’ll post more info about it soon though. Gotta headoutskis, peace!

-Jacob

Second post: January 22nd 2018

I just got back from my trip late last night and man I am so tired! I was far too tired to post anything last night and fell asleep as my head hit the pillow. Anyway, I found some pretty cool stuff on the little paranormal exhibition with my dad and his group. We traveled about 12 1/2 – 13 hours away from home to this abandoned set of houses out in the country that the group found.

A few months back, my dad and his group were on the way to visit an old Civil war battle ground which was a popular paranormal hotspot for many. My dad slowly gazed to out the window of the van and saw a few abandoned Victorian style homes on the other side of the ravine which sat on the right side of the road. He pointed it out to the rest of the group and they stopped and pulled over to the side of the road to get a closer look. They took note of the location of these houses and decided they would stop by this place on their way back home.

Well… a few months have passed by since my Dad found the abandoned location, and here we are at this really cool and creepy abandoned place in the middle of nowhere and trekking to see if we could find anything paranormal.

I’m sorry to cut this short, but I gotta get going! I will post more info about this tomorrow. I have all kinds of journal entries, pictures, and other stuff to share! Stay tuned guys, you do not want to miss this!

yours truly, Jacob

Who decided that this was a good idea: Go to bed and leave the front door unlocked

tumblr_mocp4qYWBp1qiz3j8o1_500

At this point, I didn’t know what else to do other than just go to bed and leave the front door open. Joey is an adult, he can make his own decisions. Is it possible that maybe something was wrong with him medically? I can’t say for certain. I decided that going to bed and not meddling with anything else would be good… yeah. I don’t want to make things worse! What am I saying??? I’m rambling to myself…

I went up the stairs, walked inside to our flat and gave out a loud yawn. However, as I stretched and yawned, something didn’t feel quite right… and it is unusually cold. It wasn’t your typical early to mid autumn chill… I mean it felt like a walk in freezer. I looked to my left and noticed that the two large windows that sat above our L-shaped couch were left wide often, but there was barely even a breeze coming out of them. I don’t recall leaving them open, but figured Joey might’ve done it. He’s not as anal about keeping the windows closed like how I am. When I closed the windows everything warmed up just a little bit. But still, something felt off. It was still chilly and the tension was so thick that you could cut it with a knife. The only thing I could hear is my heartbeat throbbing between my ears and my heavy breathing. I felt as though someone else was in the room with me. Suddenly a loud crashing noise snapped me out from my weird trance and created a rush of adreneline skyrocket through my veins. I hop into the small kitchen and saw our glass pitcher shattered on the white and gray linoliem tiled floor. The old chestnut cabinets were left all open as well as the drawers. The dining room that sat across from the small kitchen had scraps of paper, pens, books and napkins all over the place.

I had enough. I didn’t care if all of this shit was paranormal or not. I was over it and was ready to go to bed. I began to clean up the shattered glass, scattered items, and closed the cabinets and drawers. At one point I heard a large boom above me as well as a short, disembodied cackle, then the chill and tense feeling in the house stopped. I left out a huge sigh of relief. I made the kitchen and dining room spotless within 10 minutes, and oddly it was quite satisfying. After cleaning everything up, I took a long and hot shower, got into my gray, black, and white pjs, and hopped into bed. I was out like a light as soon as my head hit the pillow.

I had a very brief dream that lasted for maybe a few seconds and it scared the bejeezus out of me. I saw myself sleeping and saw a patchy gray colored humanoid like figure with jagged teeth, sunken red eyes, and no hair. It was completely naked and its whole body appeared to be drenched in sweat or something for it shined in the moonlight like a rubber glove. It’s face only inches away from mine, violently convulsing, twitching, and screaming to the top of its lungs, which caused me to lunge forward out of my deep slumber. I saw that it was 4:30 am and before I could do anything, I just told myself that it was a bad dream and went back to sleep. I woke up a few hours later at around 7:30 am. I walked into Joey’s room, seeing that the door was open and saw that his bed was empty. His room looked like it had been untouched since the day before, but what was even more bizarre was that EVERYTHING in that room was neat and tidy. Joey is far from being the kind of person to keep things spotless, he’s always been this way growing up. I was astonished! Books were put away, laundry and random nick knacks that covered the floor was picked up and put away, and the room smelled so pleasant! Damn, even I couldn’t imagine seeing his room thing clean like this! I felt the back of my neck and back tingled and my insides squirmed. I couldn’t move. Suddenly my phone went off and I saw a text message from Joey. He was okay, he was at his parents house and was going to stay there for a few days. He apologized profusely about what happened last night. I texted him back, telling him no worries and was happy to hear that he was ok.

After I texted Joey, I walked into the bathroom and saw a sight that I will never forget. It was Joey hanging from the hook on our bathroom door. I screamed and fell straight on my ass. He was covered in what appeared to be black ash and fresh blood. Half of his face and skull was missing and had a massive hole in his body… he was gutted out. His clothes had rips and patches of bile, foul odered liquids, and blood. His arms and legs dangled losely everytime his body swayed side to side. A large pool of blood gathered onto the once spotless blue tile. I could not believe what I was seeing.

“This can’t be happening!!! Joey!!” I squeaked as my eyes welled with tears. “How could this be? I JUST texted you!” I slowly stood up as I began to sob uncontrollably. I didn’t know what to do, and I still don’t. I turned back for a second when I got back up from the floor, and turned back around to the bathroom floor to find that Joey was gone. However, the puddle of blood and a few bits of bone and flesh remained on the floor and door. “What in the actual fuck is going on???? I am losing my fucking mind!”. Good god what is happening to me???
