Nameless Dreamer- The New World Pt 2

dreambridge

The girl looked down at her feet and looked back up to see a thin, almost thread like bridge with dozens of paper lanterns tied on almost every nook and cranny.  What was once a dusk sky transformed and melted into a blue twilight full of stars that stretched endlessly. On the other side of the bridge was another island of celestial land with a twisted path that lead to a small source of light, no bigger than a candle’s flame. The girl felt this strong urge to get to that light.

“I’m scared to cross the bridge Indigo Orb. It looks so thin and fragile! What if I fall?”

“There’s nothing to fear dear girl. It may seem timid and fragile, but in reality it is so much stronger than you think it is.” The orb nudged the girl’s shoulder forward. “Besides, even if you did, you have wings now!” Feather barked and bolted across the bridge to the other side. The bridge didn’t move a single inch when Feather ran cross it. As soon as he got to the other side, he scratched his ear for a moment, then sat down on the edge of the celestial land and stared at the girl.

The girl took a deep breath and stepped onto the bridge. The bridge did sway for a moment, which caused the girl to death grip the handles of the bridge. Her stomach dropped and her body began to shake. She looked down to see an endless abyss of cosmic clouds and stars between the crevices of the bridge’s ancient planks.

“Keep going dear girl! Don’t stop!” The orb came up to the girl’s side, but did not touch her shoulder. “I’m right here. Keep going.” The girl held her breath for a moment and took a large step onto the bridge and it dramatically swayed side to side.

“I can’t do it!” cried the girl. “I can’t”, tears began to form in the girl’s eyes, blurring her vision.

“Yes you can! You must. Even if it is one step at a time.”

“How was feather able to get across it so quickly?”

“Feather does not know fear and neither does fear know him.”

“That doesn’t make any sense at all Indigo Orb. I mean, the bridge didn’t even budge when he ran across it!”

“Take a breath dear girl….”, the girl took a massive deep breath in,”… and let go.” She exhaled at the end of his words. “It does not matter how long it takes for you to cross this bridge. You will cross it and you will be alright. Let’s go.”

The girl wiped away her tears, closed her eyes, took another deep breath, and steadied her grip onto the railings of the bridge. The girl took a step forward with her eyes closed and the bridge barely swayed. The girl took another deep breath and took another step forward. This time, the bridge did not sway.

“Yes! Yes! You got this!” The girl’s grip on the railings loosened and her steps became more solid. Within a few steps, the girl’s foot touched the cold earth on the other side of the bridge. She opened her eyes and jumped forward. Feather jumped up and down, then ran to the girl. The girl took a few steps forward, opened her eyes, and found that she was on the other side of the bridge.

“YESSS! I did it!” The girl grabbed the spirit orb and held it close to her chest. “Thank you so much for believing in me when I couldn’t believe in myself.” The orb’s warmth against her chest was one she never felt before. A flash of light overwhelmed her vision for a few moments; and within those few moments, a gentle humanoid like apparition with bright rose gold wings kissed her forehead. She opened her eyes to see that the gentle apparition was gone, but the Indigo orb was still tightly wrapped in her arms.

What was that? The twisted road that was once in front of the girl when she made it to the other side of the bridge was gone. What took its place was something the girl would never forget.

The girl felt a sense of relief as soon as she was able to see her beloved best friend, Feather. Every time she caressed Feather’s silky smooth face, fond moments and memories of the past flooded her mind. Her parents, family, friends, feather, everyone she held dear could be seen in front of her eyes like as if they were happening within that moment in time. She found herself standing in front of a medium sized pine table which sat adjacent to the modern marble countertop in the kitchen. Her whole entire family sat at the table eating dinner, filling each other in on how their day went. The pre autumn sun felt warm upon the girl’s skin. It felt good to be right there with her family again. She sat down and tried to speak with her mom and sister, but they did not notice her presence. The girl blinked and found that they were gone.

What the? That felt so real! The sun, the smell of the food, the table, the chair… everything! But… but it wasn’t? Huh… Something ‘clicked’ within herself as soon as she realized that the things she feared losing the most were never truly lost. At that moment, she knew that she made the right decision to pop that bubble. She felt lighter than she did before.

“Even though you can’t interact with your old memories, you can still access them and cherish the meaning of it’s presence” A warm gentle breeze went through the girl’s gorgeous hair and followed the wind in the distance. A new voice? Where was it coming from?

Another jolt of pain shot through her body and ricocheted back from her head to her back then to her feet. She felt her back once again, and those bumps were no longer just bumps with fuzz. They were petite wings that were about the size of the Indigo orb’s wings.

“Now, is this what you meant when you told me ‘you’ll see’?” At this point, the girl was starting to grip onto a sense of understanding. It wasn’t a very strong grip, but it at least gave her the security knowing that this is happening for a reason, regardless if she knew why or not.

“Well, the development of wings takes a good majority of the meaning behind what I told you before.” With that, the orb doubled in size instantly. The wings and halo doubled in size as well. The Indigo orb was now about the size of a basketball.

“Oh my gosh! You’ve gotten bigger! But how?” Feather jumped and let out a small bark.

“We’re in sync my dear girl. When you grow, I grow. I don’t exactly grow like how you do, but nonetheless I still grow.”

“What exactly ARE you spirit orb? Are you an angel? A ghost?”

The spirit orb got very close to the girl’s nose and gently bumped into it. The orb let out a small giggle. “I’m a light being, just like you! We might not look exactly the same, but we both come from the same origin.” The girl scratched her head and thought about the orb’s statement. With the bubble gone, a new horizon made itself clear. A colossal planet came into view. The cosmos made themselves known once again as the light of day started to die. Black, purple, and orange skies dominated the horizon. With the blink of an eye, the world around the girl changed once again.

“Alrighty my dear, let’s keep going.”

Nameless Dreamer

The moment her eyes opened the new world, she knew that nothing would ever be the same. Her icy blue eyes couldn’t absorb everything around her. A sky full of color that stretched on for what seemed forever, reflective waters as far as the eye can see, one single tree sitting behind her back sitting upon a tiny patch of grass, but what was this? A gentle breeze blew her strawberry-golden blonde hair to the side. She looked down at her dainty bare feet and wiggled her toes within the thick grass. Is this even real? The grass feels real. No way. She thought. She stood up from the chair she woke up in and gazed upon the endless cosmos. Huh? She found that she was wearing a soft white robe with a hood in the back. I know for a fact that I did not go to sleep wearing this. And yet… I don’t plan on taking this off any time soon. This is the softest thing I have ever worn in my life!

Suddenly a small orb of indigo light landed on her left shoulder, which caused her to jump. “Hi! What are you?” The orb was the size of an average human fist. It floated at her eye level, but did not say anything back. Suddenly the orb darted forward above the water. “Wait! Where are you going??? Come back!” The girl began to sprint after the orb without paying any mind to the water. She stumbled over the grass onto the surface of the water, which was as solid as ice… but it wasn’t ice. The surface of the water was very much wet with a thin layer of reflective water, but underneath it was completely solid. Wha? There’s no way that this is happening. I’m standing on water… I’m ACTUALLY standing on water. She kneeled down and ran her fingers across the surface of the water.

“Follow me!” The orb silently whispered to the girl. She stood up looked up and saw that the orb was a few inches away from her face. As soon as the orb showed up in front of the girl’s face, it swiftly took off. With that, the girl sprinted towards the orb.
