Haunted Town- Entry 4.6- Goddamn I’m Scared

As soon as I dropped the phone I heard a ringing in my ears and I couldn’t help but close my eyes. The pain I felt was relentless! I opened my eyes to see a ring of in the middle of the woods. The fire was almost as tall as I was and it glowed almost a crimson red. In the middle stood a little girl in colonial clothing reading a book. I couldn’t quite see what the book was, except it had shapes on the cover. She put the book down and looked at me, smiled then went back to reading.

I close my eyes and open them again to see that I’m back in the bar.

“Andrew!” John yelled. Everyone ran up to me.

“What happened?” Angela asked.

“Did you get ahold of anyone?” Daniel pressed.

“Well I did get a hold of someone on the line, but it wasn’t too clear. A female answered the line. I told her everything with the best of my ability… then-“

“Then what?” Taylor asked in a concerned tone as she touched my shoulder. She could tell I was spooked by something.

“Then I heard what sounded like a roar over the phone. And then after that I was taken to a different time. I was in this ring of fire and she was reading this book and she looked at me and smiled! The next thing I know I’m back here.”

“Take it easy Andrew. I think we’re all a bit stressed out from the fog and the crash. You did take a bump to the head so maybe you’re a bit confused.” John said, looking for a reasonable explanation for what I saw and felt.

“I’m not surprised that you saw something young man.” Vince got up from the aged barstool, grabbed his green coat, and headed towards the squeaky door.

“Little Hope definitely has a deep and dark history to it. Not many folk live here anymore because of it. I suggest you get the hell out of here while you still can.”

Everyone began to follow Vince as he walked outside into the street to his bike parked on the light post.

“Vince, wait!” John reached out to him. “Why are you still here?”

“There are no demons to claim me, I have nothing left to fight for. It’s just myself and my roots. I have nowhere else I’d rather be. I’m not afraid of an old ghost town. You are the ones that need to leave. Don’t get caught up in this place. This town has claimed too many people already.”

Vince got on his bike, but turned around to look at everyone.

“There’s a road up ahead. It goes on a trail that crosses the old school and bridge. Keep going on that road. You’re going to reach a diner that has a working phone. It was nice to meet you folks, but please don’t ever come back to this god forsaken place. Best of luck to you.” And just like that, Vince was gone.

“We need to get out of here right the fuck now!”

“Please calm down Taylor.” Daniel said.

“Why should I? If it wasn’t for our crazy fucking teacher we wouldn’t be here! We’re stuck in shithole central because of this stupid field trip.” Taylor pouted.

“That is way out of line! I had absolutely no idea that the bus was going to crash. I don’t want to be in this situation with any of you either, but here we are!” John raved on trying to assert himself against Taylor.

“Even though it’s John’s responsibility to keep us safe, being nasty towards him isn’t going to help.” Angela said.

“Don’t get me started. Maybe you should both get lost in the fog.” Taylor snapped.

“If anyone thinks they could do a better job, step right up!” John stepped outwards towards the circle.

The constant chatter of the group began to swarm my head, I just couldn’t take it anymore. I had to say something.

“Andrew!” Everyone yelled in unison as I yelped when I dropped the phone.

“Are you okay?” Daniel and Taylor quickly came up to me, then Angela and John.

“What happened? Did you get ahold of anyone?” John asked.

“You look pale.” Angela said, acting concerned.

“I got a hold of someone. A male voice answered the phone, but it wasn’t quite clear. I was able to tell us where we were and what happened, where we were, it was just hard to make out everything he said. Then he cut out and another voice joined the line.”

“Another voice? What do you mean another voice?” Angela was pressing for more answers.

“It sounded like mine, but deeper, and it had an accent to it. It thought I was the Devil’s work and that it wouldn’t ‘succumb’ to it.” I said using my fingers as quotation marks.

“I wouldn’t doubt that you heard something strange like that young man.” The older man chimed in, looking at everyone from the barstools. “Little Hope itself is cursed. Now I suggest you get out of here, before things get worse.”

“Why are you still here then? Why is it that you can’t hear or see those things, but you know of them?” I was scared, but I was so desperate for answers. I needed to know what was going on with this town!

“Well, there’s nothing left for me to fight for. I stick to my roots, they can’t hurt me like how they can hurt you.” He got up from the barstool, put his beaten up green coat on, and started to head towards the door. We followed him out into the street to where he parked his bike. We couldn’t just let him leave so soon with this conundrum on our hands. It weighs heavy on our minds like how the fog does in the streets.

“It really was nice meeting all of you kind folks, but this town has taken the lives of too many people. There’s not too many people left here in Little Hope. Now I suggest you pull your bootstraps up and get the hell out of here.”

“But the fog, it won’t let us leave!” Taylor yelled at the man who got onto his old blue bike.

“There is a trail that is just up the road from here. It will take you up the River through an old hiking trail. You’re going to pass by a bridge that is by the old Little Hope Middle School and an old Bridge. Do not cross it! Stay on the road. You will eventually find the diner up the road. They have a working phone. I wish you the best of luck.” He peddled off into the fog.

“There’s something that seems off about him.” Daniel said.

“What does he mean about our roots not being easy for us?” Taylor said as she shrugged in confusion.

“We can’t stay here anymore. I say we head towards the bus!” Taylor said.

“You’re joking right? Splitting up is not something we should do at all. Haven’t you guys watched horror movies?” John said assertively.

“Yeah, they’re dumb and they don’t make sense which is why I want to go back. Besides, there’s stuff back there that I want to get that might be useful.”

“Like what? I want to know what thing of yours you want to get is so important.” Angela said in a skeptical tone.

“When are you going to get off my back? There’s nothing wrong with going back and getting-“

“Your other phone? Makeup? A charger? Those things don’t matter to us right now! What does matter is staying close to town so when help arrives we can be here to get it.” Angela was really starting to push Taylor’s buttons.

“I was going to say possibly another flashlight, a first aid kit, and yes maybe my personal belongings!” Taylor yelled.

“Lay off Taylor. It’s been a rough night for everyone.” Daniel blurted out.

“Ah I see you have your boyfriend sticking up for you too?” Angela said with a mischievous smile.

“Will you stay out of our business!?” Taylor exclaimed. “God.” She whispered to herself as she put her hand to her face.

“You’re right, I’m sorry. It’s been a rough night. I just can’t wait to get out of here.” Angela sighed.

“It’s our teacher’s fault for getting us into this mess!” Taylor pointed at John.

“I didn’t know we were going to get into this crash in the first place. You can’t just blame it all on me.” John said in disbelief.

“We wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for this stupid field trip.”

“If anyone thinks they can do a better job, step right up!”

Haunted Town- Journal Entry 4- He Had The Drink…

“Sure! I could use a drink. It’s been a hell of a night.” John didn’t hesitate to grab the shot glass of whiskey. He swallowed the drink whole and slammed down the glass.

“I don’t think that was a good idea professor. You need to keep a clear head.”

“Do you want another drink?” The old man asked.

“Nah, one is good for now. Thank you kindly for your generosity! I deeply appreciate it.” John seemed to feel a sense of relief after having the drink.

FYI I switched to texting so no one can hear me.

“So I beg to ask the question, where is your phone?” I asked in an anxious tone. I couldn’t help myself. I started to feel this heaviness in the room, like as if we were being watched by someone, but more like something.

“Your phone doesn’t work, young man?”

“I have no service.”

“Ah! I have no idea how technology works. We do have a phone, but the line is a bit shaky. These old wires don’t work like how they used to.”

“Hey, we’re going to have a look around!” Angela’s voice echoed in the entire bar.

They looked among the loose leaf papers, newspapers, flyers, and photographs. I couldn’t quite overhear their conversations, but what I did know was that I was desperate to get to that phone. John and the old man continued to talk as I walked off towards the phone. I could vaguely overhear something about a ‘freak accident’, and ‘witch trials’, but I couldn’t care less.

I got to the phone which was an old, dusty, black dial up phone which seemed to be way past its expiration date. Some of the numbers were either broken off or faded on the dial on the phone and some of the paint was starting to chip away. I thought to myself, Man this place is old! I dialed 9-1-1 and at first the phone just rang and rang… and rang… until finally I heard some static. Finally a voice!

“9-1…. wh-a… is… yo-r em-rge-…cy?” A young female voice answered the phone.

“Yes hello my name is Andrew! We were in an accident up the road. We’re here in the Black Cat Bar up in Little Hope. We plan on going into town. Please send help to Little Hope! There are five of us!”

“Is an-y… hu-t o- mi-ing? I n-d a -… inf-ma-tion.”

“No one that we know of is hurt. It’s me, Andrew Foster, my professor John, my peers Taylor, Daniel, and Angela. The only one missing is our bus driver and I believe his name is Anthony.”

“W- wi… end -lp -…oon.”

“Oh thank god. How soon?” I felt a sense of dread as the static started to grow louder and louder. It began to give me a splitting headache.

“An-ony is -ed. For-et -im.” the voice started to grow almost demonic. I couldn’t understand it. Then a loud crashing sound was made next to me. A glass fell from a shelf and scared the shit out of me. Soon another voice hopped on the line.

“What is this?” The voice sounded like a deeper male’s voice, similar to mine, and yet still different. It sounded like it was from a different time or place, perhaps both.

“Who are you?”

“This is the Devil’s work here. I will not succumb to a witch’s spell. Your twisted words will fall on deaf ears.”

“I don’t understand.” A loud roar filled my ears before the line went dead. It caused me to drop the phone. It scared me to death. I didn’t know what to think.

Haunted Town- Journal Entry 4- No Drink

“Thanks, but I think I’ll pass on this one. I gotta keep a clear head.” John sighed in relief knowing that he made the best choice that he could.

“Suit yourself. Like I said before, drinking is all I have left.” The old man paused and took a drink. “After the tragic history this town has been through.”

“What do you mean?” I asked.

“What is it that you’re talking to? A cell phone?” The old man asked.

“I’m keeping track of everything on my phone just in case if anything happens to us or if we ever get in touch with someone. I have no service so I can’t call 911. This is all the phone is good for.”

“Ah I see, like a diary.”

“We’re going to have a look around!” Angela exclaimed to John and I.

“See what you can dig up.” Said the old man.

I could hear Angela, Daniel, and Taylor rustling through newspapers, loose leaf papers, old flyers, and pictures laying around the bar. I could overhear them talking about how interesting everything looked as they looked through the historical monument that is this old bar.

“Do you have a phone?” John asked calmly. I knew inside he was just as anxious to get out of here as everyone else.

“We have one, but the line isn’t very reliable. These wires are so old they just don’t work like how they used to.” The old man poured another drink.

“It’s worth a shot.” I said.

I walked off to try out the phone. John and the old man continued to talk as Taylor, Angela, and Daniel looked around. I found the phone. It was so old, like decades old, black and covered in dust. It was one of those phones with a top handle and buttons that spin. A couple of the numbers were almost faded away or missing, but I knew what was what. It didn’t matter to me, what mattered was going home safe and sound.

“Here goes nothing.” I spun the numbers to 9-1-1. I could hear a couple clicks and then a ring as I put the phone handle to my ear. It rung three more times before I heard a very raspy, static filled voice.

“9-1… wh-a … is yo-r emerge-y?” A mature male voice said over the phone.

“Yes! Hello, this is an emergency! We had a bus crash down the road and there are five people are here at Black Cat Bar in Little Hope.”

“I-… c..an se… ..lp but I- ne-… -ore info…-tion.”

“My name is Andrew, Andrew Foster. The others are Taylor, John, Angela, and Daniel. Our bus driver, I think his name is Anthony, is missing.”

“I-… an…. hu….rt?”

“No I don’t think so, it’s just our bus driver is missing. Please come to Little Hope. Please come to town! We need help!”

“A…. som…. wi….” the static got louder and I swear I could hear other garbled noises on the other end.

“Hello? Is anyone there? Hello???” Then the static got quiet and another voice chimed in.

“Who is this that beckons for my time?” It sounded like someone from another time or another place. Nowhere I can necessarily pinpoint.

“What? Who are you?”

“This is the work of the Devil. I will not give into its filthy tricks.” It was a deeper voice, yet had a ring similar to mine. “I withhold my name from you heathen.”

“What are you talking about?”

“You are cursed!” A massive roar of static and some unknown creature came through the phone. It was ear shattering! The noise scared me so much that I dropped the phone to the floor.

Dreams

Morbid Lady

She haunts my dreams.

Ever since I was little, a black widow incessantly terrorizes me. She wraps me in her wisps of silk and chains me to the walls of her hidden chambers until I wake up alone shaking in fear. The teeth make my hair stand on end. Lifeless eyes, those eyes terrify me.

She preys upon my vulnerability. She thrives on feeding my mind with tarnished thoughts and nightmares. She floods my being with the black waters of death every time I dream of her. If it’s not the water, it’s fire or tar. It’s pure torture. It feels too real to be just a dream. She stands there and laughs. Laughs with multiple voices coming out of her throat. How can she laugh like that?

When I wake up, it feels like I have been tortured for years. I tell myself I have to avoid that woman at all costs as much as possible.

Because of this, my guard is never let down. I don’t sleep, I don’t rest. I don’t leave my home. I work from home and go to college online now. I don’t visit people I know or love anymore, I just can’t. I don’t go outside or run errands unless I absolutely have to. There is no other way than to be on my guard and to protect myself in the only way I know how.

Every time I fall asleep, I see her. Sometimes I can’t defeat the urge to sleep.

She sips on my soul. She has for over 18 years now. My life force continues to fade away as my nightmares go on like this. No one believes me. I’ve tried to tell people, but I have been told it’s all in my brain or that I’m crazy. I’m not crazy dammit! Doctors either give me medications or send me to therapists. It’s a vicious, endless, nonstop cycle. It’s useless.

No one is safe from her, not even you dear. I’m telling you this now before it is too late.

She is the Devil of blackness. She’s a parasite from another dimension! I don’t know how or why she’s here, but she chose me for whatever reason.

There is no time left. She will end you, just like how she’s going to end me.

Shallow Wrist Doctor

IMG-4967

Thank Christ you have come for me.

Insert the decadent nectar into my skin.

I can’t live within my whole shell, I’m not clean.

I cannot return to my kin.

Forgive me dear doctor for I have committed the worst blessings with no sins.

I’m not sick enough for my dearest master.

Rip open my splintered bones, splice my cells, sync my neurons, split my tissue.

Give me more, give me more, give me more!!!

I need it, I feel it, I crave it, you love it.

They stare at me as I sleep, its hurts so good.

Your hands on my head arouse me so much.

Press harder on my skull please.

Harder… harder… harder…

I can’t die.

I CAN’T DIE!!!!

Those Ancient Hills (Pet Semetary Fanfic)- That dog is supposed to be dead (Part 1)

zombie-dog

I’m starting to wonder if this is something more than a doctor could fix. Again I go to the doctor, again I get the same results, with the exception of having the flu and a severe sinus infection. I’ve seen all kinds of doctors and specialists since I first started school. Call me impatient, but it seems like nothing is getting better with my mental health. I’ve seen multiple therapists, two psychiatrists, a school counselor, a neurologist, a general practitioner, a social worker, you name it! I’ve had test after test after test done and they all come out normal. Blood tests, Urine tests, stress tests, MRIs, Pet Scans, CT Scans, several assessments made by EVERY medical professional I have seen and everything comes back normal. My medications have been switched around 4 times already, and nothing works permanently. I’m starting to wonder if anyone believes me anymore. This can’t be…

I need to be completely open about something. Mental Health awareness has always been something that I have been wanting to support since I was in high school, so I want to share something personal about myself. Maybe those who are struggling might find some comfort in this.

My family and I have been through a lot of trauma in the past. We’ve lost relatives ranging from cancer, car crashes, or suicide. It always seemed to hit either my cousins or aunts and uncles. We’ve also been robbed twice while being at home and almost lost our house to a fire caused by some shotty wiring in our old laundry room. But the truth is, there is one thing that happened in my life that has scarred me for the rest of my days. I never really mentioned this before, but the truth is I had an older sister. Her name was Lydia, but we called her Lily. She died almost 10 years ago. I lost my older sister due to self harm. She was 14 and I was only 10 at the time when it happened. We were in the living room one day, watching TV and she randomly stands up, stares off into space, then heads into the kitchen. I followed her because something within me told me to. She went straight to the knife set, filled her hands with all kinds of knives, and started to cut and scratch at her skin. I remember that she screamed at the voices who told her to ‘scratch her skin off’ with the knives. I ran in there and fought to pull the knives out of her hands. She stabbed me and tried to stab my parents as we tried to stop her. She pushed all of us away and then began to skin the knives into her skull so she could rip her skin, hair, and ears off. After struggling for a few moments, my sister dropped all of the knives except for one. She looked at me and said,”This is for you, brother. I am sorry” and she proceeded to stab herself once in the gut and once in the heart. She collapsed to the floor and a large pool of blood enveloped the kitchen floor. I covered up her wounds the best I could while my mom tried to keep her with us. My dad was on the phone with 911… as soon as they arrived, it was too late.

Truth be told, Lydia was very very sick. What happened was not her fault. For years I thought that it was my fault that she died, but my parents and many others convinced me otherwise. She was diagnosed with a rare form of Schizophrenia that only a select handful of the human population has at the age of 6. It develops at a very young age and only gets worse as you get older. My parents had another baby girl a few years after my sister passed away. I could never understand why they decided to have another child after that. I felt like they just did it so they could fill that void that my older sister left behind. I was diagnosed with Bipolar II and PTSD at the age of 11. Supposedly I was ‘acting out’ in school, ‘not acting like myself’, and had been changing for the worse, according to my parents. My parents were afraid that I was developing the same illness that claimed my sister, but thankfully I was spared. I felt as though I was treated differently from everyone else, thanks to rumors being spread about my sister’s death. Regardless of what happened, Dani and Jeff have always stuck by my side.

With that being said, did I somehow empathically ‘inherit’ my sister’s illness after she died? Was I truly truly sick? Or maybe I’m really not sick and something very wrong is going on here. Maybe the Pet Sematary is a real place. Maybe that Pascow guy really does exist. Maybe Dani and Jeff did something they really shouldn’t have. Maybe the Creed family murders are true. Maybe there is such things as this cursed place that brings the dead to life beyond its main circle. God only knows, because I don’t. I decided that the first thing I was going to do after seeing the doctor was grab my laptop and head on over to the Public Library instead of the school’s library. I believe the Public Library will have more information on these legends than the school library would.

After my doctor’s visit, I open the door to find a pool of blood on the doormat. There was a trail of blood that led to the doorway of Jeff’s room. A pair of glowing red eyes stood in the room engulfed by darkness. I took a couple steps forward, weaving around the blood and saw a gruesome sight. It was Jack… but at the same time it wasn’t Jack. The dog took a few steps forward and he looked just as he did when he died, but worse… much worse. His fur was matted with mud and this awful smelling sludge water. His eyes were sunken in beyond the red. His stance was awkward and bent, almost like a V. I thought that the dog was going to attack me, but he didn’t. He just stood there and stared at me. It felt like eons had passed as we continued to stare at each other. I was stuck and I couldn’t move a single muscle in my body.

Christ almighty… thinking about this is making me feel sick… I can’t move a single muscle in my body. I have to keep this short for now. I feel as though I’m being watched. I’ll post more of what happened later on. Peace.

Those Ancient Hills (Pet Sematary FanFic)- Something Bad happened… then Something Good Happened…

tumblr_o92zocjfST1ql10zwo1_500

Sunday morning rolled along and Jeff still hasn’t made a decision on what to do in regards to Jack. I’m really starting to worry about his state of mind. He didn’t talk to anyone on Sunday, nor did he for the past week. If we asked him questions, he’d just nod or shake his head.

On Tuesday he finally decided to have Jack buried in the local Pet Cemetery which was a couple miles away from the Vet. Eternal Rest Pet Cemetery. It wasn’t very big compared to a regular cemetery, at least not that I could tell. I used to drive by it going to work or school, but now because of everything that happened, I take another route to work and school. We went with Jeff to be with him when they were to bury Jack. I never realised that there was such a thing as this, but with enough money I guess you can pull anything off. Jeff’s parents covered the expenses of the dog’s funeral, or whatever you call it. When Jack’s coffin was lowered into the ground, Jeff fell to his knees and had a massive breakdown. He tried to get into the hole where the coffin was being lowered into, but Danielle and I pulled him up to his knees and eventually his feet. I have absolutely no idea what his intentions were, but damn it was scary. It frightened me to see one of  my best friends go completely ballistic to the point of no return.

It’s currently Tuesday and he still hasn’t talked to anyone, not even Danielle. You know, for years Danielle and Jeff had feelings for one another, but were always afraid of expressing them to each other. How do I know this you might ask, well Danielle and Jeff spent quite a bit of time talking to me about both of their troubles as well as their romantic fantasies. They have almost kissed a couple of times, but were always too afraid of ruining what they had as friends. The thing is, no matter how hard things got for Jeff, he would always go to Danielle. However, Jeff has not confided in Danielle like how he normally would. She remained as patient as she could, but it devoured her from the inside. She felt so helpless and to be honest, I did too.

This morning, Wednesday morning, I woke up to a zombie-like Jeff walking through the house aimlessly. He shuffled in circles and seemed stiff as a board. His dark eyes were lifeless, his skin was white paper pale, and his suave black hair was disheveled. He was still wearing the same clothes from yesterday. Suit, tie, and dress pants. He looked like someone who was either extremely high or is just waking up from a bad hangover. He passed by me in the kitchen and I saw he had three fresh cuts on his neck. I grabbed him by his left wrist and stopped him in his tracks.

“Hey! Jeff! What the hell did you do to your neck??”

“Cut myself.”

I took a closer look on his neck, then his left hand that I was hanging onto for dear life. I saw dried blood on the cuff of his sleeve. I pulled up his sleeve and saw dozens and dozens of cuts up and down his left arm. They were still fresh cuts with blood trickling down from his arm to the floor. I looked at him in shock and felt my heart sink and shatter to pieces. Eyes started to well up in my eyes.

“I need help Alex.” He looked at me with his empty eyes. “I want to die and be buried to my dog. I want to die and be buried with all of my loved ones who died from the fire on that Christmas morning. I just want to die. I don’t want to live anymore. I don’t want to burden Danielle and y-” Jeff’s eyes started to roll into the back of his head and I grabbed him before he fell onto the dark wooded floor. Jeff is about 5 inches taller than me and weighs more than I do, but I still managed to hold him up with the best of my ability.

“No, no, no, no, no! Jeff, stay with me.” I patted his face constantly until he jolted out of it. “You’re not going to die! You’re not going to die! We’re going to get you some help Jeff.” I sat Jeff down on the couch and I immediately pulled my phone out and called 911. Jeff was taken to the Crestlake Hospital which was about 30 minutes from our house. His parents were called and they came to the hospital within a few hours. Jeff was admitted to the hospital (which in all actuality kind of looked like a hotel).

I finally have some good news; something that has helped take the edge off. I didn’t want to mention this so soon because of what happened today, but I really thought that maybe bringing some positivity to this site just might help. Anyway, I asked a girl from one of my classes out on Monday and she said yes! She and I really hit it off on the first day of our Sociology 110 class. We study together, text each other non-stop, and now I just finally gathered up enough courage to finally ask her out. We’re going to go to the cafe that’s not too far away from my house this Friday. Neither one of us have to work then which was awesome. I feel like the luckiest guy in the world! It has been forever since I have been with anyone.

And also more good news, from what I heard from Danielle, Jeff and Danielle are FINALLY together. Thank fucking god! Danielle didn’t give me a whole lot of details, but from what she told me, Danielle sat on his hospital bed, cried and told Jeff how much she meant to him, including how she felt. Jeff finally broke his silence about how he felt and made a promise not to ever do what he did again. About 10 minutes later, the nurse and Jeff’s parents came in and found both of them making out, laying on top of one another. She said believe it or not, his parents seemed relieved to see those two together. Unfortunately it was late and past visiting hours so Danielle had to leave and come back home.

When she came home I gave Danielle a big hug and congratulated her. She seemed absolutely exhausted. Her brown hair was disheveled, her blue eyes barely sayed open, and she was almost out of breath.

“Thank you so much for your help Alex. You’re a true hero for saving Jeff’s life. I think Jeff is in a better state of mind now. At least from what I can tell from what happened earlier.” Danielle gave an awkward laugh. “I think I’m going to go to bed now. I know its only 9:00, but I’m so ready to pass out.”

“I’m going to bed too Dani, no worries. Today was just pure chaos and insanity.” I gave out a small sigh.

“Right.” with that we were both off to bed.

It’s currently 3:00 am and I can’t sleep. My mind is just all over the place. I really hope to god that those two being together will help Jeff get through this mourning process with Jack. Also, is it wrong for me to post something like this on my blog? Is it wrong to open a new chapter in my life as my friend is so unstable that he almost committed suicide? I mean, Jeff and Danielle have opened a new chapter in their lives too, but at this point, I really don’t know what is right or wrong anymore. What I do know is I am starting to hear Pascow’s voice as well as the voices of others within my head. I’m going to get myself checked out, just a sanity check, you know? I’m not crazy. I know I’m not crazy. This whole event was traumatizing for everyone. I mean, thankfully I’m in one piece, but sometimes I feel like Pascow seems to suggest otherwise. I’m going to do the best I can and ignore him. That’s all you can do, right?

Bloodied Rust

24224512_L

Don’t chase after your nightmares; they might chase after you.

I chased the wrong kind of dreams, and now they’re chasing me.

I can’t stop them; they’re inflicting irreversible pain unto me.

They have come for me and I know it.

Their claw marks burn and their bites make me ache.

I drown the dying screams with synthetic happiness.

It’s stitched with fake love and patched with false hope.

The nightmare breeders tear the stitches apart and swallow the patches whole.

Tears can’t cleanse the bloodied rust from the walls.

Don’t be like me.

Chase your dreams, not your nightmares.

Or else your nightmares will chase you.

Hope must exist somewhere.

Why?

Because I’m still living.

Those Ancient Hills (Pet Sematary Fanfic)- Intriguing Shrink’s Visit

470674388

Holy crap guys! Before I get into the post, I want to say thank you so so so much for all of the support you have been giving to me. Your comments really do mean a lot to me. I never expected to have close to 5,000 people following me. It’s absolutely insane!

Anyway, the doctor’s visit… yeah… it sure was interesting. I’m not sure if I’m feeling 100% better after last night, but I think I managed to get some answers on what the hell is going on with me.

So I walked into his office, which is within a larger medical building that is interconnected with one of the local hospitals, Cunningway Hospital to be exact. It had weird vibes to it, but I think part of it had to do with me being so nervous! I asked Jeff and Danielle to come in with me so they could give some insight to the doctor on what I have been acting like when I sleep. I had to show up about 30 minutes early so I could fill out some paperwork. The office itself was very nice. It had light mocha colored walls, red and dark brown furniture, a couple fish tanks on each side of the waiting room, a light brown hardwood floor with a large round rug over the top of it, and soft classic music playing in the background. The front desk was at the middle of the room with one brown haired, blue eyed girl sitting at the desk. She was quite friendly! I could see other receptionists and nurses walking around the room, printing stuff, going through papers, working on computers, you know, basic doctor office stuff.

“Hello Alex! How are you doing today?” A tall, svelt, older gentleman walked through the door and waved hello to me. He had salt and pepper hair, a green dress shirt, black shoes, and tie, deep blue eyes and lightly tanned skin.

“I’m doing okay I guess.”

“Hm. Just okay?” I nodded then looked down at my feet. “My name is Doctor Shirley, but you can call me Steve.” He smiled sweetly and stuck out his hand to shake it. He had a firm, but not too harsh of a handshake. “So I hear that you have been getting some pretty nasty nightmares, is that right?”

“Yes.” I felt so nervous, I wanted to throw up. My stomach was churning and my hands were cold and clammy. I looked down at my feet a lot. ‘Thank god they’re not covered in mud’ I thought to myself.

“There’s nothing for you to be nervous about Alex! I’m a pretty harmless guy. I have worked with teens and young adults for over 35 years. I promise that there is nothing to worry about. Now, who are these two who have joined you today? Are they your friends?”

“Yes they are. This is Danielle and Jeff.” Both of them stuck out their hands and shook the doctor’s hand. “They’re just here for moral support, I guess you can say.”

“Have they signed our medical consent forms yet?”

“Yes they have.”

“Good good! Anyway, I have a few basic questions that I need you to answer for me. These are primarily ‘yes’ and ‘no’ questions. I just need to gather a little bit more information about you before we can move forward. Is that okay?”

“Oh yeah that’s fine with me.” The nervousness started to fade just a teeny tiny bit. I found that I was starting to regain a sense of control.

“Alrighty then, let’s begin!” The doctor took out a clipboard and a black pen which had a white feather glued on it. I thought it was quite clever. Going through all of these questions just tired me out. Don’t ask me why, they just did.

“It definitely sounds like you had a bit of a troubling past, is that right?”

“Yeah… I have. During all the crap that happened back then, I really felt like as though there was a point in time where my family wanted nothing to do with me. Though during those hard times I had the support of my two best buds. I don’t know where I would be without them.”

“Have you had any counseling in the past Alex?”

“Yes of course.”

“Is it okay for me to refer you to a local MFT?”

“Yeah, sure. Any help that you can give would be great.”

“Alrighty then! I will be referring you to a Dr. Creed. He is one of my trusted colleagues and a friend of the family since I was little.” My stomach dropped to the floor as soon as that name came up. My hands began to sweat again and I could feel myself get shaky. Doctor Creed… Creed was one of the names that ghost Pascow mentioned… Goddammit Alex get yourself together! It’s just a coincidence.

“At the end of the day Alex, it is your health that matters the most. Don’t let your past get in the way of what you want to do in the future. You are a very young, healthy, and intelligent young man with a positive future ahead of you. I can promise you that you will get through this and I will do everything in my power to help you.”

“Thank you so much for your help today Dr- I mean Steve.”

“Now Alex, I would like to meet up with you soon just to make sure that everything is going okay. Would week after next be okay with you?”

“Yeah, that’s fine.”

“Your friends can come too if you want.”

“I think I’m going to be going alone this time, no offense guys.” I felt bad for saying no to Danielle and Jeff. We have all been in the same classes, if not at least in one of our classes together throughout our whole lives. We were together almost all the time and were there for one another no matter what was going on. Like for example, when Danielle’s dad was in the hospital due to a heart attack during high school, we dropped everything we were during and were there for Danielle until her dad got out of the hospital.

“Nah, you’re good man. We totally understand.” Jeff gave a thumbs up and Danielle nodded in agreement. I gave out a sigh of relief knowing that I didn’t hurt their feelings.

“In the meantime Alex I want you to continue to take your medications normally. The only thing I would suggest for now before we visit again is to start to use more holisitcal approaches to your nightmares. Things such as Essential Oil diffusers, playing white noise in the background, ASMR, and other forms of stress releiving tactics could really be of use. I also advise for you to back off of caffeine as much as you can.”

“Okay, sounds good.” Some of the things he brought up were things that I have never heard of or even tried. It was worth a shot!

“Alrighty then! I’ll have you take these papers up to the front desk and they will help you set up another appointment soon. I will see you in about two weeks.”

“Thank you! I’ll see you in a couple of weeks.”

I walked out the door, did my thing at the front desk, and all three of us headed out. As I walked out the front door of the doctor’s office, I took a deep breath, inhaling the cool autumn breeze, and exhaled slowly.

“How are you feeling Alex?” Jeff asked.

“Much better actually! I really like this doctor. Maybe even more than Dr. Daniels.”

“I’m not sure man, he seemed kinda off to me.” Danielle said. Both Jeff and I looked back at her in shock.

“What makes you say that Dani?” I was really taken aback by this. Danielle seldom talked about people like this. The only time she did was when something was really off. She’s really good at picking up on stuff like that.

“It’s just a feeling I guess. But, if he’s a good help to you Alex, then I have no right to say that.”

After the doctor’s visit, Jeff, Danielle, and I went out to a local cafe instead of Starbucks. It was called Vanilla Bean. It was a very sick cafe that was open from 8 am to 10 pm. It sat alongside the river and was about 15 minutes away from our house and around 20 minutes away from school. They served breakfast, lunch, and dinner at all times of the day. They were like an upscale version of Denny’s or Ihop. It was a hotspot for college students in the area for sure. We had coffee, brunch, and a whole lot of english rolls. They have the BEST rolls in the world.

The rest of the day went pretty well. No weird voices, no hallucinations, absolutely nothing! I took my medications normally and started doing what the doctor suggested for me to do. I got the diffuser and stuff from work after going to the Vanilla Bean. I set up my room with everything I needed and it was awesome. What was even better was that the nightmares stopped for a couple weeks. I was finally able to get some solid sleep and I didn’t feel so worn out during the day anymore. Every once in awhile I would see a fuzzy image of a wooden cross in a patch of crabgrass, but then the imagery would fade off into what I would consider to be a normal dream.

Except for last night. It was more than just a nightmare. This was a new reality for us all and there is no way out. The wooden cross, the rows of dead people, and even Pascow appeared once again, and I was fully awake.
